In Latin, Solidago means “to heal or make whole.” It’s also a native perennial wildflower (Solidago nemoralis or commonly known as goldenrod) that grows in North America. It is meaningful to me to have the focus of services on wholeness, especially as I approach things from a systems perspective, and do not see progress as one-dimensional. There is a layer of connection of wholeness and healing being connected with nature, something outside of ourselves, that is naturally appealing as well. This also is important in exploring connection with our communities and relationships surrounding us. To heal and work towards wholeness with our selves, our partners, and our tribes, we understand that healing is not one dimensional, nor is it stagnant. It is continual and wild, much like the perennial, growing where it can, and finding it can thrive.
